Stained Glass Windows Repair - Hospital of St. Cross Church, Winchester
The Brief
Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists stained glass specialists were asked to visit the Hospital of St. Cross Church to carry out a thorough inspection of the west window. Upon close inspection, a total of 104 insitu repairs were needed on the stained glass windows and a thorough clean.
Getting to Work
Stained glass window repair services by Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists restore the original aesthetic and appearance of traditional stained glass windows, such as the ones that decorate the Hospital of St. Cross Church. As they were small breaks, our stained glass specialists were able to use a special repair method of gluing the original stained glass. This leaves little trace of the original break.
Work was also carried out on a historic diamond leaded window. Leaded window repair included re-leading and refitting the panels, along with adding new phosphor Bronze saddle bars.
The Result
The team at Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists were delighted to do stained glass repair work on such a historic building dating back to 1136; the west window is believed to be 15th century. The Hospital of St. Cross still houses 25 brothers to this day making it the oldest charitable institution in the United Kingdom.
