The Diversity of Stained Glass

November 14, 2014

The Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists Team always get excited when we see new and innovative ways to use stained glass and this is no exception. An American artist named Marissa Garner has designed a series of superhero and cartoon-based stained glass window concepts that range from Batman and Spiderman to Sailor Moon and My Little Pony. Ms Garner is currently working as a consultant at Eleventh Hour and Walt Disney Imagineering and uses the stained glass windows concepts as a medium through which she can express her geekery. Speaking to CNET, she said: “I love stained glass as a medium. It combines my two favourite things – colour and light.”

These wonderful designs are currently restricted to print form and have not been recreated in real life as yet. These art prints are available from her Etsy shop however due to her work commitments she is only able to complete her orders on the weekend, so if a concept tickles your fancy you might have to wait a while! Although these designs could be considered a little unorthodox, it just proves how diverse stained glass windows can be, and that with the right idea and the right person to enact it, you can be in possession of the stained glass window you always wanted.
